The whole idea came when I found an old school drawing in my wardrobe. It was approximetely 15 years old and it depicted an anatomic head made by the french sculptor Jean-Antoine Houdon. In order to understand how the facial muscules structured we were forced to draw this study model. I immediately thought that it would be an interesting experiment to transfer this head into the contemporary context. This is how the multiple time layers intertwined. The sculpture of the head was created in the 18 centry, I drew it 15 years ago and I update it now in the view of the future reality. It was logical to make something futuristic out of the head and I tried to visualize the concepts of cyber humans, mind uploading, genetic engineering and the like. Since it was Houdon who created the initial model I wanted to commemorate him and called the series by his name. After the Houdon_1, I painted the Houdon_2 and 3, which have the same basis but different stylistical treatments.

Later I painted other series of the paintings. “Futurien” are abstract paintigs, where microbiological images and extraterrestrial organisms are fused together into colorful contrasting compositions. “Underwater” is a stylized depiction of the underwater world. “Chic” and “Fly” are abstract paintings inspired by microbiological images combined with floral elements […]
