Using traditional Renaissance oil glazing techniques, Katy Wiedemann’s work blends a unique expression of figurative painting with a precise understanding of scientific anatomy, finding both the beauty and the complexity of the human form. Her creature studies combine aspects of natural biology and science fiction to create works that seek elegance in the grotesque.
Katy is a painter and illustrator currently living in Providence, Rhode Island. She is a senior graduating in the spring of 2013 from the Rhode Island School of Design with a focus in Scientific Illustration.
